My two Cents worth
Be careful what you pray for and who you vote for America. As I predicted when they were elected, the inept clowns in the congress continue to bumble about, spewing anti-Obama rhetoric, charging at anything that moves. Speaker Baner struggles to avoid braking into a crying jag, desparately trying to master his hormonally unbalanced emotions. All the while America is hurting. Like a crazed bull in a China shop they continue to smash national crockery without rhyme or reason. These ijots are oblivious. This country needs leadershp in the Congress, not obstructionist ijots who seem incapable of compromise. I call them ijots because they are less than idiots, and thus unworthy of being called idiots.... May Yah help us all.
*Yom Revee´ee............Fourth day
And God said: 'Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years;
and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth.' And it was so.
And God made the two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night; and the stars.
And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good.
And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day. {P}

• Today's 'Nasi': Issachar
In today's "Nasi" reading (see "Nasi of the Day" in Nissan 1), we read of the gift bought by the nasi of the tribe of Issachar, Nethanel ben Tzuar, for the inauguration of the Mishkan.
Text of today's Nasi in Hebrew and English.
Today in Jewish History
• First Red Heifer Prepared (1312 BCE)
On the 2nd of Nissan, one day after the inauguration of the Tabernacle, Moses prepared the very first Red Heifer, in order to ritually purify the Jewish nation in preparation for the bringing of the Paschal Lamb in the newly erected Sanctuary.
• Passing of Rashab (1920)
The fifth Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Sholom DovBer Schneersohn ("Rashab"), was born in the White Russian town of Lubavitch in 1860. After the passing of his father, Rabbi Shmuel (in 1882), he assumed the leadership of Chabad-Lubavitch.
Famed for his phenomenal mind and analytical treatment of Chabad Chassidism, Rabbi Sholom DovBer wrote and delivered some 2,000 maamarim (discourses of Chassidic teaching) over the 38 years of his leadership. In 1897, he established the Tomchei Temimim yeshivah, the first institution of Jewish learning to combine the study of the "body" of Torah (Talmudic and legal studies) with its mystical "soul" (the teachings of Chassidism); it was this unique yeshivah that produced the army of learned, inspired and devoted Chassidim who, in the decades to come, would literally give their lives to keep Judaism alive under Soviet rule.
In 1915, Rabbi Sholom DovBer was forced to flee Lubavitch from the advancing WWI front and relocated to the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don. In his final years, he began the heroic battle against the new Communist regime's efforts to destroy the Jewish faith throughout the Soviet Union.
Rabbi Sholom DovBer passed away in Rostov on the 2nd of Nissan, 1920. His last words were: "I'm going to heaven; I leave you the writings."

Today's Mitzvah
A daily digest of Maimonides' classic work
Negative Commandment 64
Testing G‑d
"Do not test the L-rd, your G‑d"-Deuteronomy 6:16.
Once a prophet has been established as a true prophet - either through accurately forecasting the future on several occasions, or through the testimony of another established prophet - it is forbidden to further test or doubt his words.
Positive Commandment 8
Emulating G‑d
"And walk in His ways"-Deuteronomy 28:9.
We are commanded to emulate G‑d's ways. As the Midrash explains, "Just as G‑d is merciful, you should be merciful; just as G‑d is gracious, you should be gracious; G‑d is righteous, you too should be righteous; G‑d is pious, you too should be pious."
Positive Commandment 6
Clinging to the Sages
"And cleave to Him"-Deuteronomy 11:22.
We are instructed to mingle with the sages and interact with then whenever possible: join in their meals, do business with them, etc. This way we will learn from their ways and come to adopt their true beliefs.
The verse tells us to "cleave" to G‑d-but is it possible to cleave to G‑d who is likened to a consuming fire? Rather this means that we must cleave to Torah scholars.
Positive Commandment 206
Loving Our Fellow
"Love your fellow as yourself"-Leviticus 19:18.
We are commanded to love and care for our fellow Jew as we love and care for ourselves. We should treasure our fellow and his possessions as we treasure our own. Whatever I wish for myself, I wish also for my fellow; and whatever I dislike for myself, I should also not want to befall him.
